Liberty VR is an indie action game where you play a colonial soldier in a warped version of the American Revolution. Instead of musket duels and troop maneuvers, you’re fighting enemies powered by ancient alien tech. The game mixes exploration of 18th-century battlefields with puzzle solving and combat using period-appropriate weapons enhanced by sci-fi twists. Set on PC with VR support, it leans into its odd blend of powdered wigs and extraterrestrial gadgetry for a lopsided but playful experience. The game’s wildest hook is its mashup of history and sci-fi, which some found creative and others called jarring. Launched in 2017, it hasn’t aged well mechanically but has a small following drawn to its chaotic concept. With a 60% rating on Metacritic, it’s more of a cult curiosity than a polished adventure. Still, fans of offbeat historical fiction might find its alien-tinged Revolution worth a glance.
