About

This indie visual novel drops you into the life of Akiko, a former spellcaster grappling with adult responsibilities in the Y2K era. Once a hero with her magical girl squad, she now endures a soul-crushing retail job while her fading powers hint at a deeper crisis. Gameplay revolves around dialogue choices and branching paths as you balance mundane struggles with figuring out a mystery threatening both magic and the city. Expect a mix of dry humor, heartfelt moments, and a cast of flawed but relatable characters navigating the chaos of growing up. The game stands out for its queer WLW relationships and sharp writing that blends nostalgia with modern sensibilities. Players praise its unflinching look at mental health and friendship, with one community review calling it "a refreshing take on aging out of heroism." The Y2K aesthetic and snappy character dynamics have earned it a 8.5/10 average across forums. It’s a short but punchy experience that leans into the messiness of adulthood without losing its sense of wonder.

Storyline

Being an adult sucks! Life was so much easier when Akiko was saving the world with her magical girl squad, the Sentinels of Justice. Now she’s stuck working a boring retail job, watching the days creep closer to Y2K. She’s lost touch with her high school friends, her powers, and herself. Worst of all... When Akiko realizes her healing magic is fading, she knows it's a sign of trouble. But things only get worse from there — her old teammates are affected too and soon the greater populace of the city! As Akiko, with help from the Sentinels, track down what's happening to magic (and who might be behind it) before it's too late.
