Goro Majima wakes up in Hawaii with no memory and a grudge against the sea. Teaming with a kid named Noah, he hunts for lost treasures while dodging pirates, smugglers, and other trash. The game mixes street brawls with naval combat, you switch between hand-to-hand fighting and real-time cannon duels as you upgrade a ship, recruit oddball crew members, and plunder islands. Battle enemy ships by dodging fire, aiming broadsides, then boarding for chaotic crew brawls. Combat lets you toggle between two playstyles: fast, flashy strikes as "Mad Dog" or dual-sword chaos as "Pirate," with creative moves chaining into wild combos. The Deluxe Edition adds extra outfits, ship mods, and crew/customization packs locked behind early-game milestones. While the story leans on Yakuza’s usual mix of crime and absurdity, the pirate twist adds new chaos to the formula. Player forums highlight the ship battles as a fresh twist, though some note the side content feels gated. With over 30 hours of main story and heaps of optional loot, it’s a longer ride best for fans of the series’ over-the-top energy.
