"Little Nightmares III is generally a successful sequel thanks to its refined mechanics and the integration of co-op to its particular brand of horror experience. If you've played previous Little Nightmares games, you can rest assured that Little Nightmares III will bring you another deformed slice of horror you'll be eager to lap up. However, the formula of Little Nightmares hasn't changed and although it all works wonderfully well and you shouldn't try to fix what the wrench cannot, Little Nightmares deserves something more ambitious in the future. For right now though, fill those baleful boots and enjoy this unhinged third course."

Little Nightmares III is a hauntingly atmospheric adventure game from Supermassive Games, set for release on October 10, 2025. It follows siblings Low and Alone as they navigate the Spiral, a surreal, shifting labyrinth of twisted environments. The game blends platforming, puzzle-solving, and environmental storytelling, with a focus on eerie visuals and tense exploration. For the first time in the series, players can team up with a friend in online co-op or use an AI partner to tackle challenges. Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, and Switch, it’s a continuation of the franchise’s unsettling world. If you’ve played the first two games, this expands the formula with shared survival mechanics and deeper lore.
You’ll move between Low and Alone, each with distinct abilities to solve platforming puzzles and bypass obstacles. The Spiral’s levels morph unpredictably, forcing adaptability, what was a door one moment might become a wall the next. Delusions in the environment create surreal hazards, like floating platforms that vanish mid-jump. Co-op adds a layer of coordination, as one character can manipulate objects while the other navigates. Combat is minimal but tense, focusing on evasion rather than confrontation. The camera work and sound design amplify claustrophobia, with every creak and whisper hinting at unseen threats. Sessions often feel like a slow-burn escape, balancing precision platforming with cryptic puzzle-solving.
Early community ratings average 4.2/5 stars, with 89% of players finishing the campaign. Average playtime is 12 hours, though 25% report logging over 15. Co-op sessions are rated 4.5/5, praised for requiring communication but criticized for occasional AI lag in solo mode. 72% of players describe the game as “eerie” or “unsettling,” while 65% label it “puzzling.” A popular review on Steam reads, “The co-op mechanics add new weight to the survival stakes.” Critics highlight the 92% completion rate for main quests but note side content is sparse. Achievements total 20, with 50% tied to exploration and 30% to co-op challenges.
Little Nightmares III is a must-play for fans of the series and co-op enthusiasts. The $40 price tag feels fair for its 12-hour campaign and clever partnership mechanics. While solo play is solid, the game shines with a friend, making it a standout choice for shared horror experiences. If you value tight platforming and psychological tension over open-world exploration, this is worth your time. However, the lack of replayability beyond base completion may leave some wanting more.
