Lost Bits follows M1L0 as he navigates a series of bizarre digital environments in search of the Great Legume. The game mixes 2.5D platforming with puzzle elements, tasking you with jumping, grapple-hooking, and sometimes straight-up fighting your way through levels like a submerged warship and a chaotic construction zone. Each area has its own distinct visual style but leans into a cohesive retro pixel art look that feels nostalgic without leaning too hard on pastiche. The controls are tight and responsive, though the game’s short length means there’s little fat to trim. What stands out is the playful tone and the way it uses platforming to tell a lighthearted story about data and systems. The grapple mechanic adds variety to traversal, and the boss fights against abstracted computer processes are creative, if occasionally frustrating. With a runtime of around three to four hours, it’s not a deep dive but works as a quick, charming distraction. Released in May 2023 by Studio Mabbit, it’s best approached with low expectations and humor.
