Love at The Milky Way Diner is a cozy sci-fi RPG with simulator and visual novel elements from Clumsy Cat Studio. Released in 2025, it drops you into a bustling deep-space diner on the station Hesperides, where you manage a multi-species community while navigating romance and cultural differences. The story follows a human protagonist inheriting a restaurant after their aunt’s death, tasked with keeping the place alive in a galaxy of advanced alien species. With 8 love interests offering unique storylines, the game blends point-and-click management of the diner with dialogue-driven relationships. It’s a lighthearted take on sci-fi, focusing on food, friendship, and found family, set 200 years after humanity’s first alien contact.
You spend most sessions balancing diner management and relationship-building. Point-and-click controls let you prepare meals, tweak the menu, and interact with regulars. Cooking requires experimenting with alien ingredients, while dialogue choices shape your bond with 8 distinct love interests, each with their own species and backstories. Between managing the kitchen and chatting with customers, you’ll expand the diner’s menu, unlock recipes, and host events that bring the station’s eclectic community together. The visual novel segments slow down for in-depth conversations, while the simulator elements keep you on your toes with time-sensitive orders. It’s a slower-paced game compared to action RPGs, but the charm of customizing your space diner and seeing relationships develop makes the hours fly.
PlayPile users rate it 4.2/5, with 78% completion rates and an average playtime of 22 hours. The game thrives on cozy vibes, with 82% of players labeling it “heartwarming” and 65% noting “relatable dialogue.” Critics praise the inclusive writing and 8 well-developed love interests, though 18% found the pacing “slow for action fans.” Achievement completion stands at 94%, highlighting challenges like dating all routes or perfecting alien recipes. Community moods skew positive: 71% “relaxing,” 63% “fun,” and 45% “nostalgic” for retro visual novels. One review calls it “the best sci-fi cozy game since Stardew Valley,” while another warns, “Skip if you want fast combat or intense story twists.”
This is a must-play for fans of cozy simulators and sci-fi romance. At $24.99, it offers solid value for its 20+ hour runtime. The 32 achievements (70% completion average) add replayability, especially for collectors. While not impressive, its charm and inclusive storytelling make it stand out in the genre. If you’ve enjoyed games like Oxygen Not Included with a dash of Story of Seasons, give it a shot. It’s not for everyone, skip if you crave action or branching story complexity, but as a relaxing, character-driven experience, it hits all the right notes.
Love at the Milky Way Diner is a game about cultural exchange through food, building community, and finding love in the process. 200 years after first contact, humanity is still trying to find their place in a galaxy full of far more advanced and established species. One such human, our protagonist, has recently been laid off from their corporate job on Mars when news reaches them; their distant aunt Cassiopia has passed away suddenly, and she would like one of her relatives to take over her restaurant on the distant deep space station Hesperides. The protagonist decides to take a leap of faith. They may have never left their home start system of Helios, but surely there must be something (or maybe someone) better out there waiting for them. When they reach the station they find themselves welcomed by a vibrant, multi-species community of eccentric individuals who are only too happy to welcome the new owner of their favourite place to eat. Love at the Milky Way Diner will feature 8 love interests, each with their own routes and stories
