Lunacid is a first person RPG that drops you into a large underground maze filled with hostile creatures and environmental hazards. You navigate twisting tunnels and crumbling chambers using a mix of melee attacks and limited spells, all while scavenging for resources to survive. The game emphasizes careful planning and risk/reward decisions as you descend deeper toward a mysterious ancient entity. Combat is punishing but methodical, requiring you to adapt to different enemy behaviors and terrain challenges. The game’s atmosphere leans into a bleak, Lovecraftian vibe with its moonlit caverns and toxic fumes. While it borrows DNA from early 2000s dungeon crawlers, Lunacid adds its own layer of decayed worldbuilding through scattered lore fragments. Early access reviews highlight its difficulty spike around midgame, though 78% of players on Steam report they’d finish it again. What sticks is the sense of isolation and the payoff of solving cryptic environmental puzzles hidden in the depths.
Long ago a great beast arose from the sea and covered the earth in a poison fog. Now those deemed undesirable are thrown into a great well, which has become a pit of chaos and disease. You awaken in a moonlit subterranean world, having been thrown into the Great Well for crimes unknown. The only way out is to go further down and confront the sleeping old one below. On the way there will be many creatures and secrets to discover.
