Mad Doctor is a quirky 1985 Commodore C64 title where you play a surgeon of the macabre. Your mission is to harvest body parts through grave-digging or late-night brawls with unsuspecting villagers. Once you’ve gathered enough limbs and organs, you drag your captives to your castle for storage or dissection. The endgame requires assembling your monster and hauling it to Stonehenge for a lightning-powered activation. Meanwhile the local townsfolk will try to thwart your experiments, adding a layer of chaotic interference to your plans. The game leans into its absurd premise with gleeful abandon. Its blend of slapstick violence and rudimentary puzzle solving feels oddly ahead of its time for early 80s design. While graphics are basic and dialogue limited to text, the darkly comedic tone and open-ended experimentation options set it apart. A relic of retro gaming’s more mischievous side, it’s a cult classic that still shocks in all the right ways.
