This crossover fighting game pits Marvel heroes against Street Fighter icons in one-on-one brawls. Choose from a roster including Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ryu, and Chun-Li to execute flashy special moves and link them into Chain Combos that pack bigger punches. The arcade-style action focuses on quick reflexes and memorizing character-specific attack patterns. Single player mode offers a campaign with escalating difficulty while multiplayer lets you test skills against a friend locally. The game’s appeal lies in its chaotic mix of superhero and street fighter aesthetics. Apocalypse appears as a mid-game boss before the final showdown against Cyber-Akuma a mechanized version of Akuma with enhanced speed and damage output. Players who defeat Cyber-Akuma unlock a character-specific ending depending on who lands the final blow. Released in 1997 it remains a cult favorite for its ambitious mashup of two iconic franchises and surprisingly deep combo system.
Apocalypse re-appears in the game as a sub-boss; after defeating him, your team will face a mechanized, super powered form of Akuma called Cyber-Akuma (Mech-Gouki in the Japanese version). Although the fight is two against one, he makes up for it by having overpowered strength and speed. The character that can beat Cyber-Akuma will have his or her ending viewed upon completion.
