Medarot 2: Kabuto Version is a turn-based RPG where you command insect-themed robots called Medarots in competitive battles. Set in the fictional town of Omikuji, the story follows Ikki Tenryou and his friends as they collect and upgrade their machines. The Kabuto Version starts with a rhino beetle-inspired Medarot while the Kuwagata Version uses a stag beetle. Each version locks in exclusive Medarots and parts meaning players often trade or battle to fill gaps. Gameplay mixes exploration of tile-based maps with strategic robot customization and competitive one-on-one fights. Released in 1999 for Game Boy Color the game uses the system's color capabilities for brighter visuals. It supports single player campaigns and local multiplayer duels. While a 2002 Game Boy Advance remake called Medarot 2 Core got English releases the original GBC version remains untranslated.
