Medarot Kuwagata Version is a 1997 Game Boy RPG where you control Hikaru Agata, competing in robot battles against the Roborobo Gang. Players choose from two versions, each with exclusive robots and items. Kuwagata starts with Head Scissors, a scissor-wielding beetle robot. The game focuses on collecting and upgrading Medarots, battling in turn-based matches, and progressing through tournaments. All dialogue is in Japanese with no official translation. The game’s monochrome visuals work on Game Boy Color with limited palette shifts. A 1999 Wonderswan "Perfect Edition" added content but stayed monochrome. Medarot 2 followed the next year. Though obscure outside Japan, it laid the groundwork for the series’ later entries. Its straightforward robot combat and version-specific mechanics appeal to retro RPG fans.
