About

Mega Man Legends 3 Project was a planned sequel for the Nintendo 3DS that never saw a full release. Players would have taken control of Aero and Barrett to complete ten missions in an early prototype version available on the eShop. This build featured gameplay segments set after the events of Mega Man Legends 2, where the team worked to rescue Mega Man Volnutt from Elysium. The story focused on a mysterious item called the Klicke Lafonica and the fallout from the Elder System reactivating. Capcom stopped development in July 2011 because the project did not meet their internal criteria. They tested the prototype first but decided against releasing it, which led to the main game's cancellation as well. The Japanese Devroom closed shortly after the announcement ended all hope for a full launch. Fans still discuss this lost entry often since it was meant to continue the series legacy. This unfinished state leaves players wondering what the final adventure would have looked like without the prototype segments.

Storyline

The game's story would have continued right after the events of Mega Man Legends 2. Two new characters, Aero and Barrett, would join returning ones to help rescue the protagonist, Mega Man Volnutt, from Elysium. Chris Hoffman of Nintendo Power implied the finished game may have focused on a mysterious item known as the Klicke Lafonica and the aftermath of the Elder System reactivating at the end of Legends 2.
