You play as a bounty hunter in a harsh sun-scorched world filled with outlaws mercenaries and mutated beasts. Your mission is to track down fugitives across a fractured landscape aided by a soldier a mechanic and a mechanical dog. The story shifts based on which jobs you take leading to branching events and multiple endings. Combat mixes traditional turn-based battles with the ability to switch to tank-based fights. Each character can pilot customizable war machines that take damage and need repair. You hunt for scattered parts to upgrade armor weapons and vehicle designs. The tank customization offers hundreds of build options with different gun types and body styles. You can even repaint your machines and save designs to the memory card. Released in 2005 for PlayStation 2 it maintains a dedicated fanbase for its open-ended story structure and deep mechanical systems. The non-linear design lets players shape the narrative through their choices making each playthrough distinct.
