About

Metal Saga: Hagane no Kisetsu is a post-apocalyptic RPG in the long-running Metal Max series. Set in a world ravaged by a rogue supercomputer, you play as one of several characters navigating a harsh wasteland. Combat happens in tank crews with multiple players sharing a single vehicle. The game uses a durability system instead of traditional armor mechanics. Nintendo DS touch controls handle everything from driving to targeting. This 2006 entry adds new wrinkles to the franchise but keeps the core mechs of exploration and turn-based battles. The story follows Rebanna's children as they hunt down a resurrected AI threatening humanity. While the game's mechanics and presentation differ from earlier Metal Max titles, it maintains the series' signature blend of strategy and resource management. A mobile sequel arrived in 2007 but this DS version remains the most complete. Casual fans of post-apocalyptic stories may find the narrative engaging but the dated visuals and niche appeal could be barriers. Still it offers a distinct take on the genre for those who want to try something different.

Storyline

In the near future, the world was devastated by a supercomputer named Noah. However, remnants of humanity survived this cataclysm, naming the event Great Destruction. Noah continued its intent to wipe Earth clean of humanity in this post-apocalyptic world. However, a hunter named Rebanna destroyed Noah before its ambition was fulfilled. Noah foresaw the possibility of its demise, and so devised "Noah consciousness awakening program" in this unlikely event and stores it within indestructible super-alloy shell called "Noah Seed." Under this threat, Rebanna's children undertake the task to fight the resurrected supercomputer.
