Meteor Mess is a point-and-click adventure where you control Dave and two friends navigating a spooky mansion to rescue his girlfriend. Use a cursor to interact with objects solve puzzles and avoid traps set by a scientist controlled by a brain-eating meteor. The game remixes classic mechanics with updated visuals and fresh challenges including entirely new rooms and solution paths. Each character has distinct abilities requiring teamwork to unlock progress. Based on the 1987 game Maniac Mansion this fan-made remake adds 20 new puzzles and expanded exploration while keeping the original’s chaotic charm. Linux and PC players can tackle it solo or with co-op partners. With a 87% positive rating on Steam it balances nostalgia with modern tweaks for a tighter 6-hour experience. Released in 2022 it’s a labor of love for point-and-click purists.

Storyline

Meteor Mess follows teenage protagonist Dave Miller as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend Sandy Pantz from a mad scientist, whose mind has been enslaved by a sentient meteor. The player uses a point-and-click interface to guide Dave and two of his six playable friends through the scientist's mansion while solving puzzles and avoiding dangers.
