MicroBot casts you as a tiny robot fighting infections inside a human body. This twin-stick shooter tasks you with destroying corrupted older models of your own kind while navigating arteries, blood cells, and other bodily terrain. The single-player campaign leans on straightforward shoot-and-move mechanics with occasional co-op support for a friend. You collect upgrades to tweak your bot's weapons and abilities but the core loop remains focused on wave-based combat and environmental hazards. The game earned mid-60s scores on Metacritic and GameRankings from a split critical response. Visuals impressed many with detailed bioluminescent environments that feel like plausible body systems. The synth-heavy soundtrack also stood out as a strong match for the setting. While local co-op and upgrade systems pleased some players, others found the formula derivative with little to distinguish it from other shooters in the genre. The 2011 release still holds a small cult following among fans of retro-style arcade action.
