About

Mike Gunner is a side-scrolling rail shooter from 1988 that tasks you with gunning down waves of enemies in the lawless city of Robbland. Originally designed for use with a Gun Stick pistol peripheral, the game puts you in the shoes of a no-nonsense detective tasked with wiping out criminals. You move along a fixed path, ducking and firing at gangs, robots, and other threats. Precision matters as enemies swarm in tight spreads, demanding quick reflexes and steady aim. The game prioritizes raw action over complex mechanics, with a focus on clearing each level while minimizing collateral damage. Released at the tail end of the 1980s, Mike Gunner reflects the budget-friendly, arcade-style design of its era. It holds a niche spot in retro gaming circles, particularly for those nostalgic for early DOS and 8-bit shooter experiences. While its pixelated visuals and simple soundtrack won’t wow modern players, the game’s relentless pace and direct gameplay offer a no-frills challenge. With support for classic systems like the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, it’s a curiosity for fans of early action titles.
