Millipede is a shooter from Atari that follows the same developer's earlier hit, Centipede. You control a cannon at the bottom of the screen, using a trackball to aim and blast the segmented creature crawling upward. Each part you destroy adds to your score but the real challenge comes from dodging and firing at smaller enemies that join the fray. The game speeds up as you progress, making it harder to keep up with the increasing number of targets. Launched in 1982, it's available on multiple platforms from arcade cabinets to modern PC. The simplicity of controls and escalating difficulty made it a staple in arcades during its time. With support for both solo and competitive play, it maintains a straightforward yet challenging design that's held up over decades.
