Mind of War is a turn-based strategy game where you command fantasy factions in grid-based battles. Choose from anthropomorphic rodents, elves, and dwarves, each with distinct units like magic-wielding heroes, war machines, and corrupted creatures. Upgrade troops between fights, tweaking abilities and tactics to outmaneuver enemies. Battles force you to adapt on the fly, positioning, skill timing, and unit synergy decide victories. The campaign follows a world figuring out as an invading cult poisons the land, pushing factions into desperate conflicts over territory and survival. The game stands out for its layered strategy and deep faction identities. With over a dozen unit types per faction and evolving combat systems, replays encourage new approaches. Linux and PC players get a rare indie strategy title with polished multiplayer and solo campaigns. Early access forums highlight its balance between accessibility and tactical complexity, though the steep learning curve might trip newcomers.
A dark army emerges from the north, where mountains and ash cover the horizon, intent on spreading corruption, corrupting the creatures they encounter and wiping out any civilisation that refuses to join the aberrant Cult. This will lead to the androtopos (anthropomorphic rodents that inhabit the underground and caverns) being forced to invade the territories of the dwarves and their cities carved out of the mountains, in search of new burrows in which to survive and thrive. Other factions will also be affected by the relentless spread of fire and death left in its wake by the arrival of the Aberrant Cult; such as the elven forests, victims of the quest to recruit new creatures to add to their ranks, as well as seize areas with exceptional magical powers and devastate nature and life in their path.
