Miyamori is a hand-drawn platformer mixing exploration and puzzle solving in a quiet Japanese town. You play as Suzume a girl searching for her missing brother while navigating forests shrines and shifting weather patterns. The controls feel precise with timed jumps and environmental interactions that require careful timing. Art and music create a distinct folk vibe influenced by regional myths and classic Nintendo adventures. The story ties together Suzume’s quest and the mysterious fox Izuna with folklore themes that feel woven into the world rather than forced. Community reviews highlight its gentle pacing and atmospheric design though some note the short runtime at around six hours. Sparrow House Games delivers a cozy yet eerie experience that lingers more for its tone than action. Available on PC and Mac since late 2018 it remains a niche pick for those seeking something slower and story driven.
Long ago, a shrine was built to protect against the evil spirits that were thought to roam the hills northeast of town. Izuna and Gedo are the shrine's guardian foxes. When Gedo disappears, the shrine's protective power is thrown out of balance and strange things start to happen. Gedo wasn't the only one to be spirited away, however, as Suzume's brother Toshiki vanishes one summer night while out catching fireflies. During a frantic search through the woods, Suzume crosses paths with the mysterious fox Izuna and the two decide to help each find what the other is looking for.
