About

Moebius: Empire Rising casts you as Malachi Rector, an antiques expert with a knack for solving puzzles and piecing together historical secrets. The game blends exploration and deduction as you travel from Venice to other global hotspots, uncovering clues and solving riddles to figure out a conspiracy tied to a mysterious death. Each location becomes a stage for intricate puzzles that require sharp observation and logical thinking. The narrative unfolds through environmental storytelling and cryptic artifacts, pushing you to connect events and decide the fate of a scheme that could reshape the world. Created by Jane Jensen, known for Gabriel Knight, the game stands out for its layered storytelling and atmospheric settings. While puzzle complexity and a slow start may test patience, the narrative's metaphysical twists and richly detailed environments have earned it a dedicated following. Available on multiple platforms, it offers a cerebral experience for fans of mystery-driven adventures. With a Metacritic score in the low 70s, it’s a thought-provoking entry in the point-and-click genre that lingers long after the final click.

Storyline

The game tells the story of Malachi Rector, an antique dealer who travels the world hunting down artifacts. After his upscale Manhattan store is destroyed in a fire, he's hired by billionaire Amble Dexter to investigate a series of events and document them in his meticulous way. The first event is the death of a young woman in Venice, found hanging from a bridge. As Rector investigates her life, he realizes that the beautiful and talented young woman—and the interrupted path of her life—had great hidden significance: Amble Dexter and his associates are playing with the fabric of life in a way Rector never imagined was possible. Even he, Rector himself, is part of a larger pattern. He must figure out who is doing what, and whether their intentions are for good or ill, before he can decide if he will play his pre-scripted role or try to change the outcome. This is a metaphysical thriller alla Dante’s Equation and Gabriel Knight.
