Monad is a minimal interactive experience centered around two opposing forces. A white circle expands across the screen the moment you touch the screen growing until it fills the space. A black circle appears in response allowing you to reclaim portions of the screen. The ebb and flow of these shapes is accompanied by a shifting soundscape that reacts to your input. The simplicity of the mechanics contrasts with the depth of its sensory design optimized for quiet environments with engaging audio. The game has shown in art exhibitions including Bit Bash 2019 and EGX 2019’s Leftfield Collection. It won top prize in the Physical Interactive Art category at the 2019 Kentucky State Fair. Built using the LÖVE engine with support from Louisville Makes Games the project explores spatial dynamics through tactile feedback and sound. Its abstract approach and award recognition highlight its appeal beyond traditional gaming spaces.
