Moon Ball Magic is a pinball game structured as a series of 11 increasingly complex tables. Players launch a ball to rack up points while navigating ramps, bumpers, and hidden pathways. Each table ends by feeding the ball into a hard-to-reach hole that triggers the next stage. Scoring in the game’s opening sequence carries over into later rounds, adding a meta-layer to early play. The later tables demand precise timing as obstacles multiply and point values rise. This Famicom Disk System title is notable for its unusual distribution method, it required users to write the game onto existing disks via the system’s Disk Writer service. As a result, it lacks physical packaging and remains one of the rarest FDS titles. Released July 12, 1988, it marked the final games published by Square Enix’s Disk Original Group label before the company shifted to cartridges. The game’s playful intro sequence and escalating difficulty have earned it a cult following among retro enthusiasts.
