About

Moonlight Syndrome is a 1997 PlayStation adventure game that leans heavily into psychological horror and surreal storytelling. You follow Mika, a high school girl figuring out a web of eerie coincidences after a classmate’s sudden death, and Ryo, her brother, whose disturbing dreams hint at a deeper mystery. The gameplay revolves around exploring static scenes, collecting items, and making dialogue choices that nudge the narrative forward. The story unfolds through fragmented clues and a heavy dose of ambiguity, with the environment often feeling like a character itself. This title gained a cult following for its moody atmosphere and nonlinear script, which rewards close attention to environmental details. Developed by Human Entertainment’s Goichi Suda, later known for No More Heroes and Killer7, it’s seen as an early example of his signature style: blending body horror, existential dread, and pop culture references. While its dated presentation might not wow newcomers, fans of slow-burn mysteries and ’90s Japanese games often cite it as a forgotten standout.

Storyline

Now Mika must find out what is truly happening around her. And so does Ryo, Kyoko's brother, who has been seeing strange dreams lately...
