Moonmist is an interactive fiction adventure set in an old Cornish castle where you play a detective investigating strange occurrences. Your friend Tamara lives in Tresyllian Castle with her fiancé, but she’s convinced a ghost called the White Lady is haunting the estate. As tensions rise and threats escalate, you must figure out whether the danger comes from a supernatural force or a mortal hiding in plain sight. The game relies on atmospheric descriptions and logical puzzles that require careful observation to solve. The haunting setting and layered mystery blend classic gothic elements with Infocom’s signature text-based immersion. Written by Stu Galley and Jim Lawrence, the same team behind Seastalker, it showcases the same narrative depth and clever puzzle design. Released in 1986 as Infocom’s 22nd game, it ran on systems from DOS to Commodore 64. Players who enjoy eerie settings and methodical problem-solving may find it holds up well despite its age.
