About

Munch Man is a puzzle game where you trace chain patterns through a maze while dodging four ghosts called Hoonos. Played on the TI-99/4A, the goal is to cover every tile with a connected chain rather than eating dots. You gain a temporary advantage by consuming an Energizer, letting you reverse roles and chase the Hoonos. The twist comes in levels 20, 40, and 60, where the maze disappears, leaving only TI logos to mark paths. Players must memorize layouts and eat logos to clear invisible corridors, creating a surreal shift in gameplay. The game stands out for its clever reworking of classic mechanics, especially the invisible maze challenge that tests spatial memory. Released in 1982 as a cartridge title, it’s a product of early home computing experimentation. Developer Jim Dramis later created Parsec for the same platform, but Munch Man remains notable for its inventive use of the TI-99/4A’s hardware. Despite its retro roots, the invisible level design feels ahead of its time, blending strategy with abstraction.
