About

Naious is a vertically scrolling shooter set in a future where a rogue AI has turned against humanity. You control a spacecraft navigating tight indoor corridors and open outdoor zones, blasting enemies with a starting Vulcan gun that upgrades to spread bullets, lasers, and homing missiles. Stages force precise maneuvering through narrow passages while enemy waves and environmental hazards escalate tension. Power-ups appear at fixed points to swap or boost your arsenal, requiring strategic choices mid-level. The game stands out for its mix of claustrophobic indoor stages and large exterior sequences, balanced with punishing difficulty. Its weapon progression offers distinct playstyles, though infrequent power-ups demand memorization of stage layouts. With roots in late 80s/early 90s shoot-em-up tradition, it leans into aggressive pacing and mechanical precision over flashier visuals. Fans of tight design and methodical upgrades might find it rewarding despite its age.

Storyline

In 21th century the Earth became overpopulated, and humans began building colonies in the solar system. Technological expansion led to widespread pollution; in order to counter it, a powerful computer Naious was built. One century later, humans became completely dependent on Naious, and that was when it stroke unexpectedly. European cities were reduced to ruins after a single attack. The fighter spacecraft ASP and its pilot Manami Katagiri were dealing with a possible rebellion on Jupiter when it became clear that the future fate of humanity depends on them.
