"Nova Strike isn’t a bad game by any means, but it doesn’t do enough to make it stick in your mind like the best of the genre. The roguelike elements are nice, but there simply needs to be more variety and unpredictability to make the focus on them truly worthwhile. And so what you’re left with is a shoot ’em up that too quickly looks and feels generic, with little reason to keep playing once you’ve bested what it has to offer."

Nerf N-Strike Elite turns your Wii Remote into a weapon of choice. This rail shooter has you popping darts at bots in a mix of stealthy tactics and chaotic shootouts. Aim with the bundled blue SWITCH SHOT EX-3 blaster and use the Red Reveal lens to spot enemy weaknesses or crack digital codes. Upgrades let you tweak your blaster with new colors and attachments. Two-player co-op adds a friend to tackle levels together unlockable areas and share secret finds. The game leans into its physical props hard. The blaster and lens aren't just gimmicks, they actively change how you play. Puzzles and weak spots require the Red Reveal mode which stands out in 2009 for blending hardware and software so directly. While the story sticks to basic bot-blasting tropes the customization and co-op keep things fresh. A niche title but a solid pick for Wii owners wanting to play with toys they already own.
