Nevrosa: Prelude drops you into a dimly lit lab where every shadow feels alive. You’ll piece together fragmented memories while avoiding a grotesque, unseen predator that lurks just beyond your line of sight. The puzzles are sharp but fair, often requiring you to manipulate the environment to create escape routes or hide from the creature. Multiple endings tie back to your choices, though the narrative leans more on mood than clarity. The game’s eerie atmosphere sticks out most, creaking metal, flickering lights, and distorted whispers make the lab feel like a character itself. Developer GexagonVR’s debut effort has aged better than most 2017 indies, with a runtime of around four hours that still feels brisk by today’s standards. The creature design is memorable if you can stomach its jerky animations, and the tension of solving puzzles while being hunted never lets up completely.
