The arcade style mechanics let you execute wild spirals, superhuman leaps, and bone crunching hits that feel more cartoon than sport. Single player modes include quick matches and a simplified career path while multiplayer lets you face off locally over split screen or online if the servers are still running. Launched in 1997 this game became a cult favorite for its energetic approach to the gridiron. The simplified 7 on 7 format and exaggerated physics made it easy to pick up and harder to put down. While not everyone's idea of authentic football it carved out a niche with its bold visuals and reckless fun. The Windows and N64 versions still show up in retro lineups years later.
