NHK Academy: Space School - Math 4th Grade Part 1 is an educational quiz game for the Nintendo Family Computer, released in Japan in late 1989. Aimed at fourth graders, it uses short math problems split into bite-sized sections, each linked to a textbook for reference. Players answer questions in single-player mode, with the game designed to reinforce basic arithmetic and problem-solving. A key catch: it requires a special Konami QTài adapter to run, connecting the cartridge to a TV in a setup uncommon for the era. This title stands out for its hardware oddity and educational focus. The Konami QTài adapter was used in only seven Famicom games, making this one a collector’s footnote. While the math challenges are simple by modern standards, the game reflects early efforts to merge classroom learning with home consoles. Released nearly 35 years ago, it’s now more of a historical curiosity than a playable gem, but fans of retro edutainment or Konami’s obscure projects might find it fascinating.
