NHL 18 is a hockey simulation that tightens the controls and ramps up the intensity. New defensive stick mechanics let you handle puck pressure more precisely while Creative Attack mode adds layering to offensive plays. The 3-on-3 THREES mode turns matches into high-octane sprints and the Expansion Draft system lets you build a fictional 32nd team from real rosters. Gameplay feels punchy with arcade flair but retains enough realism for passing fans. Multiplayer is the biggest draw with more co-op and competitive options than previous entries. You can team up with friends for drop-in sessions or go head to head in online lobbies. The game hit shelves September 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One. While not a massive leap from past entries, the refined controls and fresh modes kept it among the best hockey titles that year.
