Night Stocker is a 1986 arcade shooter where you steer a vehicle through an alien landscape while firing a lightgun at oncoming enemies. You guide the car using a steering wheel, but there’s no brake, your ship moves forward constantly across a planet’s surface. Ammo is limited, forcing careful shot selection as enemies swarm. Your shields take damage from hits but can regenerate by collecting floating crystals. Stages end when you reach a distant robot fortress, shifting focus to clearing remaining enemies in the area. The cycle repeats for 16 levels, then starts over without a final victory. What sets it apart is its hardware-specific design, built on Bally Sente’s SAC-I system. The dual-control setup of steering and lightgun shooting was rare for its time, blending motion and target practice in a single-player loop. While not a critical darling by modern standards, its straightforward challenge and sequel status to 1984’s Stocker highlight its niche in early arcade experimentation.
