About

Nightwalker casts you as a reporter chasing leads through the shadowy corners of 1980s New Orleans. Your mission? figure out a heroin ring by gathering evidence, interrogating witnesses, and piecing together clues from seedy bars to sketchy alleyways. Every choice impacts the story, trust the wrong source and you might end up exiled to the Gulf. The game blends text-driven investigation with occasional graphics, tasking you with balancing risk and intel to build a case worthy of handing to police. It’s a nonlinear puzzle where failure feels earned. The game’s strength lies in its branching paths and replayability. An expansive database shifts outcomes based on how you navigate conversations and collect proof. Released in 1983, it runs on retro systems like the Commodore 64 but still offers tense decision-making that feels punchy for its era. With no hand-holding, it rewards careful planning over brute force. Community archives note its sharp pacing and the thrill of surviving the city’s underworld, though the lack of save features might test modern patience.

Storyline

The story unfolds in the famous port city of New Orleans. Far from the glamour and romance of Bourban Street, you find yourself prowling the seedy bars and alleyways of the waterfront for clues. The word is out on the grapevine. A nosy reporter (you) is snooping around for information from everyone and anyone who'll talk. If you're the kind of ace reporter that judges your sources carefully, you could end up with the story of a lifetime. If not, you could find yourself on a pleasure cruise down the Gulf - minus the boat!
