Niji no Silkroad is a 1991 RPG for the Famicom where you play an exiled prince hunting for seven shards to reclaim your throne from a usurper named Zrool. The journey takes you across regions in South Asia but traveling isn't free, your main gameplay loop revolves around buying and selling goods to fund trips. Each region holds one of the Rainbow Mirror's pieces which you'll collect to challenge Zrool and prove your royal lineage. The standout is its resource management focus. Unlike most RPGs that rely on combat grinding Silkroad makes you think strategically about which items to trade for maximum profit. Developer Advance Communication Company crafted a story where economic savvy is as important as swordplay. Limited to Japan and unreleased outside the region it's a forgotten title with a unique twist on classic Famicom-era quests.
