Nine Noir Lives is a point-and-click mystery where you play a cat PI named Cuddles Nutterbutter. Set in a city ruled by felines, the game tasks you with solving a murder that pits rival crime families against each other. Gameplay mixes dialogue choices, inventory puzzles, and physical interactions like poking objects or licking them (because cats). The story unfolds through quirky characters and a script packed with dry humor and absurd situations. Expect red herrings, a chaotic investigation process, and a runtime that clocks in at roughly 8-10 hours for the main case. The game stands out for its visual gags and commitment to cat-themed absurdity. The yarn ball landmark is both a literal and figurative centerpiece for the plot. Community data shows players complete nearly half the 43 achievements, suggesting a balance of accessibility and challenge. While puzzle difficulty varies, the consistent stream of puns and character moments keeps momentum strong. The noir framing gets a hilarious twist through feline behavior, making it memorable in the adventure genre.
Welcome to Meow Meow Furrington, capital city of cats, home of the world's biggest ball of yarn...and hotbed of crime. You are Cuddles Nutterbutter, feline private investigator and owner of two perfectly normal-sized paws, the doctor said so. After agreeing to take on a last-minute case for the Chief of Police, you and your plucky assistant find yourselves investigating a murder that risks upsetting the careful balance between the city's two most powerful crime families: the Montameeuws and the Catulets. Cuddles will need to use every skill he's learned - as well as his definitely-not-smaller-than-average paws - to poke, lick and talk his way through to the heart of the mystery...before some very dangerous cats decide to take matters into their own paws. Which, to clarify, are absolutely regular-sized.
