Ninja Hamster is a side-scrolling beat-em-up that drops you into a rodent rivalry. You square off against six gangsters and two bosses in turn-based brawls, using directional inputs and a fire button to land kicks. The screen shows the full fight area, with health tracked by a bar and a literal apple, each hit chips away at one or the other, while inactivity lets your meter refill. Knock out an opponent’s apple to advance, though the order of fights is fixed. A two-player mode lets friends duel, but both start with double apples for longer squabbles. The health system’s quirky apple mechanic stands out, blending resource management with simple combat. While not a modern hit, its retro charm and straightforward matches earned it a cult following among 8-bit fans. The Commodore 64 and Spectrum ports kept it accessible, though the dated graphics and limited enemy variety keep it niche. Still, it’s a brisk, oddball pick for those craving pixelated punches.
