Nixy The Glade Sprite is a retro-style platformer where you play a forest guardian trying to restore balance to a corrupted ecosystem. Your goal is to reach a sacred pool to purify the Gaia stone before hostile mushrooms and mutated plants stop you. The game blends traditional 8-bit platforming with environmental hazards and timed jumps, requiring precise movement to avoid spiky flora and patrolling enemies. Each level scrolls vertically, with checkpoints spaced across increasingly treacherous terrain as you collect fragments of the stone to complete your quest. The game launched on Commodore and ZX Spectrum hardware in 2018, catering to retro enthusiasts with authentic pixel art and chiptune music. While it lacks modern mechanics, its straightforward design and nostalgic presentation earned a 72% on ZX Spectra archives. The Nixy series continued with sequels on similar platforms, but this first entry remains a cult favorite for fans of classic platforming challenges. The single-player campaign lasts around four hours, with a difficulty curve that leans heavily on memorization of enemy patterns.
Nixy is a glade sprite charged with looking after the Gaia stone. The Gaia stone is the heart of the Glade and gives life to the plants and flowers. But something is wrong with the stone, its been corrupted and now once beautiful flowers are turning dangerous and the once friendly Mushroom people are attacking ! The Old Ones talk of a pool of water which in ages past cleansed the stone. Maybe that might work again? Travel through the forest avoiding deadly plants and creatures to find the sacred pool and cleanse the stone, then return it to the Guardian Tree in the Glade.
