Noboranka is a vertical scrolling shooter where you control Zippy Bug climbing a tree to rescue a captured princess. You blast insect enemies as they swarm the screen, collecting fruit for points while dodging deadly skulls they drop. Short bursts of flight let you navigate tricky sections but burn through letters in a "I Love You" counter at the bottom. The letters slowly refill, but special items help: a key creates a one-hit invulnerability bubble, a ring instantly resets the counter, and other collectibles keep the action tight. The game’s quirky charm and simple yet clever item system set it apart. Released in 1986 by Coreland and published by Data East, it balances challenge with accessibility. The limited flight mechanic and resource management add strategic depth to the fast-paced shooting. While brief, its mix of reflexes and timing makes each run feel purposeful.
