Noctis lets you pilot a Stardrifter through a made-up galaxy as a first-person space explorer. You jump between stars instantly, refuel by siphoning lithium ions from stars, and approach planets and moons. Some worlds have weather, plant life, animals, or strange ruins. You can land on surfaces where possible and document findings in the GUIDE, a shared database meant to sync discoveries across players via a central server. There’s no scoring or objectives, just the thrill of charting new systems and seeing what’s out there. What sets Noctis apart is its open-ended approach. The game prioritizes curiosity over structure, letting you decide where to go and what to log. The GUIDE system adds a collaborative edge, though server support may be outdated since the December 31, 2001 release. With basic visuals and a focus on interstellar wandering, it’s a niche title for those who enjoy slow-paced, self-directed discovery in space.
