Noobow is a 1992 Game Boy title that mixes platforming with object-based puzzles. You control a character shaped like a sweet who avoids danger entirely while collecting items to resolve environmental conflicts. Each of the seven levels requires finding tools like fans or buckets and placing them in specific spots to calm a sun and rain battle. Progress depends on trial and error, when an item disappears after use you know you did it right. The goal shifts slightly each level balancing exploration with helping stranded characters to unlock exits. The game stands out for its oddball premise and minimalist design. The candy-like protagonist and tropical island setting feel distinct for early 90s portable gaming. While the core loop is simple the level design encourages creative thinking about object placement. With no combat or time limits it focuses purely on spatial problem-solving. Small details like Noobow’s refusal to take risks add character to what could have been a generic puzzle game. A forgotten relic that shows Irem experimented with genre blends long before it became common.
One day, Noobow was sleeping in his bed at home when he woke up and suddenly found himself on a deserted island. In order to return home, Noobow continues his journey to get home while helping people in need.
