Notre-Dame de Paris: Journey Back in Time is a virtual reality tour that lets you explore a carefully recreated version of the cathedral as it stood in the 18th century. Using models inspired by the same historical research that informed Assassin’s Creed: Unity, the game lets you roam its vaulted corridors, climb the bell towers, and peer into hidden chambers. You can look up at stained glass, examine carvings, or just take in the scale of the structure without time limits or crowds. The detail here is striking, every stone and beam feels carefully placed. While the lack of interactive puzzles or narrative might leave some wanting, the sheer visual fidelity makes it a compelling way to spend 30 minutes to an hour. Released in 2020 for SteamVR and Oculus Rift, it’s a brief but rewarding experience for anyone fascinated by architecture or history.
