About

Oathborn: The Chronicle of Ruin puts you in charge of a small squad navigating a world fractured by ancient war and a mysterious curse. You command units on a grid-based map while making choices that shift alliances and alter the narrative path. The game draws heavy inspiration from classic tactical RPGs but focuses on managing resources and keeping your troops alive against overwhelming odds. There are no happy endings here, just hard decisions in a setting where every nation fights for survival against a dark force rising from the ruins of Galamonde. What really drives this experience is how your choices ripple through the story to create genuine consequences. Players often find themselves rethinking strategies after seeing how political tension escalates into open conflict. Community feedback highlights the depth of character interactions and the weight of moral ambiguity in every mission. The art style and music do a great job of selling the grim atmosphere without feeling repetitive. It feels like a modern take on old-school tactics that respects your intelligence and time while delivering a story with real stakes.

Storyline

Twenty years ago, the world was engulfed in a great war. The four belligerent nations - Valessia, Ondora, Zaragos, and Galamonde - were locked in a ceaseless conflict that had spanned generations, with no end in sight. That all changed the day the Traitor King Weyrin unleashed his Curse upon the world. In a few short weeks, the kingdom of Galamonde fell, consumed entirely and reborn as a dark, barren wasteland. The remaining nations, seeing such swift and utter destruction far beyond any of their own means, put aside their differences and established a tenuous truce to stem the tide of the Curse. They were successful, but at a great cost that would continue in perpetuity. The Curse was contained in the Dead Kingdom Galamonde, a festering blight in the heart of the world, and from his dark throne within, the Traitor King forever strives to break his bonds and engulf the world in shadow. In the ensuing decades, what was once open warfare has devolved into restrained hostility, as the powers that be struggle to hold themselves together under the constant threat of outbreak, uprising, and the inevitable resurgence of total war. It's in this time, in which the frayed edges of the mortal realms are beginning to unravel completely, where Oathborn's story begins.
