Oil Panic is a fast-paced arcade game where timing and reflexes are key. Players control Mario using two buckets to catch oil droplets before they hit the floor. Yoshi appears to refill oil reserves and can be used to hit Bowser, who drops oil from the castle’s height. In a separate mode, a station worker gathers oil from a gas station ceiling and pours it into a waiting container. Each scenario tests your ability to juggle moving targets and avoid overflows. Developed by Nintendo for the Game Boy in 1997, the game’s simplicity is its strength. The dual-bucket mechanic demands precise coordination, and the bonus points for defeating Bowser add replay value. With only single-player options and a focus on quick decisions, it’s a relic of the era’s straightforward action titles. The Classic Mode’s worker character introduces a different rhythm, balancing speed with careful pouring. Short on story but sharp in execution, it’s a brisk challenge for handheld arcade fans.
