"Featuring plenty of exploration, puzzle and platforming gameplay, OOLO is a peaceful retro adventure that rewards curiosity and persistence. The isometric perspective is a double-edged sword: while it lends a charming quality — making each screen look like a delightful voxel diorama — it can also cause significant parallax perception issues (as I experienced), making certain platforming sections even more demanding than they already are. Those who enjoy digging deep for secrets will find a real treasure here, with layers that go beyond the surface."

About

Ooze is a side-scrolling action game from 1993 that tasks you with navigating precarious platforms while blasting enemies. As a gelatinous blob, you must hop between moving blocks, collect keys, and shoot anything that gets in your way. The challenge comes from tight platforming, fall too far and it's game over, and waves of foes that require quick reflexes. Combat is straightforward but satisfying, balancing movement and firepower as you push through increasingly chaotic levels. Despite its simple setup, Ooze stands out for its brisk pacing and responsive controls. It’s often seen as a notable upgrade from its NES predecessor, with smoother mechanics and more dynamic level design. While not a household name, it’s remembered by retro enthusiasts as a solid, if short-lived, example of early '90s platformer energy. Released in a packed May 1993 lineup, it carved out a niche for players who enjoy mixing shoot-'em-up action with platforming precision.
