Outer Terror is a minimalist shooter with rogue-lite progression and co-op support. Players pick from 10 survivors, each with distinct weapons and abilities, to fight through waves of fungal-infected horrors. The loop mixes wave defense with exploration as you upgrade gear and unlock new powers. Massive maps hide outposts and loot, but the real challenge comes from escalating difficulty and random encounters. The game’s stark visual style and cosmic horror themes stand out, paired with a focus on asymmetrical co-op that lets two players combine skills. While some critics called the story delivery clunky, community ratings hover around 8/10 on Metacritic. Released in April 2023, it runs on most major consoles and PC. The fungal menace grows stronger each night, and your upgrades are the only thing keeping you from being overrun.

Storyline

A cosmic evil known only as, The Crying God, has enveloped Earth's Moon. Releasing fungal growth with every waxing and waning. This is known as “Gray Death”, the fungus fuses man and beast, living and undead, into horrible otherworldly abominations. Here we follow the remnants of earth’s survivors across the globe, as they STRIVE to survive one more night... Enter Beyond the Gray Death!
