Outhouse is a side-scrolling shooter from 1982 where you pilot a flying craft to defend a single-screen outhouse from toilet paper thieves. You fire at intruders approaching from both sides of the screen, aiming to stop them before they reach the outhouse. If they make it, they escape with paper that vanishes once they exit the screen. Squatters drain paper directly while fireballs, zappers, and other hazards add chaos. A limited number of smart bombs let you clear waves, but the game ends when resources run out, the outhouse is destroyed, or all lives are lost. The absurd premise and frantic action make it stand out. Released in late 1982 for TRS-80 systems, it’s a retro challenge that balances reflexes and strategy. The combination of squatters draining resources and waves of enemies testing your aim creates a simple but tough loop. While graphics are basic, the urgency of defending under siege keeps it engaging.
