Outwars is a third-person shooter released in 1998 that mixes space combat with on-foot action. Players tackle a single-player campaign and 8-player multiplayer battles across six modes like Capture the Flag and Team War. The game stands out for letting players control legs and torso separately though this can be turned off if needed. The split control system adds a layer of movement not common in shooters of the time. Multiplayer focuses on objective-based play over pure deathmatches with modes that emphasize teamwork or solo sabotage. Despite its age some of its mechanics remain fresh particularly in how it separates aiming and movement.
