Overboard is a chaotic VR action game where you fend off waves of sharks using whatever you can grab. Wield poles, pipes, and eventually jetpacks and laser cannons to survive escalating battles that start in the ocean and spiral into the atmosphere. Each weapon upgrades as you progress, letting you chain attacks and clear swarms in bursts of splattery violence. The controls feel intuitive in VR, with swinging and shooting mapped to natural motions that keep the action flowing. The game leans into its absurdity with gleeful abandon. Developer Jack Southard crafts a single-player experience that prioritizes over-the-top fun over realism, letting you rocket through space while dodging cosmic-sized shark attacks. Launched in 2019, it maintains a cult following for its escalating ridiculousness and the sheer joy of flinging a flamingo-shaped harpoon at a robotic great white. Available on PC, SteamVR, and Oculus platforms, it’s a short but consistently entertaining burst of carnage.
Sharks are scary, even without jetpacks and frickin’ lasers. Conquer your fear by fending off masses of bloodthirsty sharks. Enjoy the satisfying carnage that somehow manages to get even more overboard by the minute.
