Overlord: Minions is a puzzle action game that turns the Nintendo DS touch screen into a battlefield. You manage a squad of four goofy underlings, Giblet, Blaze, Stench, and Zap, using the stylus to swipe them into action. Each level tasks them with stopping the Kindred cult’s plan to revive dragon-like beings. Swipe to position characters, trigger attacks, and solve environmental puzzles while fending off hordes of enemies. Combat blends simple tapping for basic strikes with timing-based combos, all layered over a grid of obstacles and hazards. The game’s charm comes from its slapstick humor and responsive touch controls. Minions flail through battles with exaggerated animations, like a goblin getting squashed or a skeleton slipping on banana peels. Levels grow increasingly chaotic as new enemy types and power-ups are introduced, testing both reflexes and puzzle-solving. Though the difficulty can spike unpredictably, the single-player campaign keeps things brisk with its mix of carnage and cartoonish wit.
